Bhubaneswar, in Orissa. First Indian city I was visiting on my own, after my first overnight train trip. Not particularly touristy, but I got refused a hotel room three times when they saw me, female backpacker travelling alone. There were of course plenty of rooms available. The prejudice people can have… Luckily I ended up couchsurfing with five Italians, it made my day. The beginning of India kept being about foreigners for sure! Going around I met some pupils who were thrilled to be taken pictures of, their smiles also made my day. I mostly happily roamed around the many temples and their colourful gods.
