The pictures of my first few weeks in Turkey!
First, I have been to Istanbul. But, oh oh oh shame on me, I knew I was going to come back later so I did NOT do the traditional touristy stuff! I just stayed home mostly, and enjoyed the sounds of the lively little street coming up to me day and night…
I have then been to Bursa a rapidly growing student town on the Asian side of the Bosphore, where I was very impressed by a whirling dervish ceremony in a nicely restored covent, now cultural center, where you can sit and relax and have a tea for free. While staying in Bursa, I have made a day trip to Gölyazı, a lcute little village on an island in the middle of a lake, and, still hitchhiking with my couchsurfing host, we went to Zeytinbağı (named before 1963 Trilye, the three priests, several legends are candidates for explaining this name). Trilye, as people keep calling it, is a “village” (for me, a town!) on the Marmara sea. It has a very huge abandoned “stone school” (used to be a monastery dating from the beginning of the XXth century. Everyone was climbing inside through the windows to have a look, so we did too, of course, and as I love abandoned buildings, I really enjoyed this visit .
It’s all for this time, but there is a lot more Turkey coming soon!
