On Couchsurfing, Mustafa invited me to come to his home in Çivril. This small town (around 15 000 inhabitants) near Denizli has nothing particular to offer tourists, and this is exactly why I particularly enjoyed my time there : “real” Turkey! Mustafa has to invite visitors, because almost no one would spontaneously want to visit his place, or even hear about it. We (Astrid, a great girl from Canada whom I ended up travelling with for the next 2 weeks after that, and I) had the best of times at Mustafa’s, soon joined by a party of 4 more travellers! The market was beautiful, and we kept cooking and having good food together… what more do you need? Mustafa has an interesting past-time: he is a pigeon fancier (in French colombophile); his pigeons are of a special kind; they have a strange way of flying back to their shelter, letting themselves drop for a few meters at a time… Very funny! And there were the two puppies, Mathilda and Şermin, two street dogs who probably felt what a big heart Mustafa has and just followed him to his home, one day. A very special place indeed, and a very nice few days in Çivril!
