Çivril

On Couchsurfing, Mustafa invited me to come to his home in Çivril. This small town (around 15 000 inhabitants) near Denizli has nothing particular to offer tourists, and this is exactly why I particularly enjoyed my time there : “real” Turkey! Mustafa has to invite visitors, because almost no one would spontaneously want to visit his place, or even hear about it. We (Astrid, a great girl from Canada whom I ended up travelling with for the next 2 weeks after that, and I) had the best of times at Mustafa’s, soon joined by a party of 4 more travellers! The market was beautiful, and we kept cooking and having good food together… what more do you need? :) Mustafa has an interesting past-time: he is a pigeon fancier (in French colombophile); his pigeons are of a special kind; they have a strange way of flying back to their shelter, letting themselves drop for a few meters at a time… Very funny! And there were the two puppies, Mathilda and Şermin, two street dogs who probably felt what a big heart Mustafa has and just followed him to his home, one day. A very special place indeed, and a very nice few days in Çivril!
